The same thing applies to your mindset. On top of that, room service is no longer offered and you have to carry your own luggage to your room-on the 7th floor upstairs and the elevator is broken. Imagine walking into the Ritz-Carlton-a 5 Star hotel so well-known for its customer service and luxury that it doesn’t need to advertise-and the hotel staff is inattentive, unprofessional, and rude. Your beliefs, values, and attitude will constantly pull you down. It is difficult to maintain 5 Star Leadership with a 1 Star Mindset. We hold ourselves out as 5 Star Hotels and we are attracting 1 Star guests! These guests belong to three groups: Mindset, Circle of Influence, and Purpose, Gifts, and Talents. We rent rooms out to “guests” that don’t value the luxuriousness of our mind, body, and capabilities. But our values don't match our appearance. Sometimes the upkeep, safety, and general desirability of the property diminish as the stars decrease.Īs leaders, we should strive for 5 Stars! Many of us will claim to be a 5 Star leader. One Star properties offer basic amenities with limited services. Five Star properties offer a high degree of personal service are usually very well-appointed luxurious properties. The stars are based on the level of accommodations and services offered. ![]() The hotel rating system typically offers 1 -5 stars, with 5 being the highest rating. This hotel was supposedly a luxury hotel with luxurious surroundings-a 4 Star hotel. They just had the expectations, behaviors, and actions that were inconsistent with the brand of this hotel. Now there was nothing “wrong” with these guests. Here we were in a 4 Star Hotel and their actions, language, and appearance was more appropriate for a 2 Star hotel, maybe even a 1 Star. The hotel staff was courteous and helpful as always! The floral arrangements were stunning as usual! But…the other guests in the lobby looked out of place. The restaurant makes an awesome Bloody Mary and delicious blueberry pancakes! It is a simply magnificent property! This particular time I was there for an overnight business stay. I have attended several charity and business events there over the years. Many people visit just to have the beautiful displays as a backdrop for photo shoots. It is a very elegant facility that always has spectacular floral arrangements. Earlier this year, I visited what used to be one of my favorite hotels. ![]()
